Safeguarding

Everyone should be safe, heard and treated with dignity.

We are committed to creating a safe and welcoming church for children, young people and adults, including those who may be at risk of harm.

Our commitment

Safeguarding is part of how we care for one another.

Concerns are taken seriously and should be shared promptly.

01

Safer church life

We seek to provide appropriate oversight, clear conduct expectations and safe ministry environments.

02

Listen and respond

We listen carefully, record concerns responsibly and act in the interests of the person who may be at risk.

03

Share when safety requires it

Information is handled sensitively, but it may need to be shared with safeguarding professionals or the police.

Report a concern

Do not wait if someone may be at risk.

You do not need proof before sharing a concern, and you do not have to report it through the church before contacting the relevant authorities.

Immediate danger

Call 999

If a child or adult is in immediate danger, contact the police straight away.

Call 999

For a non-emergency police report, call Police Scotland on 101.

Contact the church

Raise a concern with our safeguarding team.

Email or call the church and ask to speak to the safeguarding lead. Please avoid sending detailed sensitive information in your first email; ask for a safe way to continue the conversation.
