Every year, we host a Ceilidh, a traditional Scottish dance. The Ceilidh is not only an occasion for merriment and camaraderie, where we enjoy one another’s company while savouring delicious Scottish cuisine and music. It also serves an additional purpose – raising financial support for a chosen local charity. Over time, we’ve raised thousands for various Dundee-based charities, our way of contributing to the wellbeing of our community.
We have been holding this event for about 10 years, and have raised funds in support of the following charities (where less than £1,000 was raised during the ceilidh, the church made up the amount to £1,000 by contributing the difference):
- £3,000 in 2014 to provide Christmas hampers for the Red Admiral Court and Strathmore Lodge residents
- £1000 in 2015 to support Helm Training Ltd, Dundee; a local charity that works with teenagers
- £1000 in 2016 to support the Young Carers project of the Dundee Carers Centre
- £1000 in 2017 to support Eagles Wings Trust Dundee
- £1000 in 2018 to support Brae Riding for the Disabled Dundee
- £1000 in 2019 to support Hillcrest Futures; and
- £1000 in 2022 to support Positive Steps.
In 2023, we will be raising funds for the Archie Foundation Tayside. See the 2023 Annual Charity Ceilidh.
